Alaska Asset Team: Update on Mt Redoubt, Wed, Jan 28, 9 pm
Unrest continues at the Redoubt Volcano. Seismicity currently remains above background and eruptive activity is likely over the coming days to weeks. This afternoon, the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) released an information statement describing the current status of the volcano and some possible eruptive scenarios. See the volcanic activity notification section of this page (below) to view the information statement.

Based on all available monitoring data and AVO's knowledge of the volcano, scenario number two, an eruption similar to or smaller than that of 1989-90, appears to be the most probable outcome at this time. We consider one and three to be somewhat less likely, and scenario four to be much less likely.
